Second Annual Kespukwitk iNat Competition

Sep 18-26, 2021

MTRI is proud to host the Second Annual Kespukwitk Municipal iNaturalist Competition from September 18-26!

This is a friendly competition between the municipalities of Annapolis, Digby, Clare, Yarmouth, Argyle, Barrington, Shelburne, Lunenburg and Queens to see who can collect the most observations of nature on the free iNaturalist app!

Last year, with the help of over 150 observers, we collected over 9000 observations of wildlife in a week. Can we beat that this year?

As part of this year’s project, we are looking for one community representative from each municipality and are still looking for help from Annapolis, Argyle, Barrington, Queens and Shelburne.

Community representatives will be responsible for observing at least 50 species in their municipality, locally promoting our competition, and, if available, joining us on an interpretive walk in their municipality.

No expertise is needed to be a community representative but we are looking for passionate nature lovers who love to learn and share their knowledge.

We are happy to provide a small honorarium to each of our community representatives.
